Nature Poem -A Fantasy

The first flush of dawn permeates,

Like a bashful bride bedecked in golden blades,

Casting sheaths of crimson-orange drapes

On sinewy streams and languorous lakes.

Bleary-eyed each creature slowly awakes,

With tottering feet and faltering gait,

Stirred out of shadowy night’s restful slumber

To face the world anew with wonder.

The birds perched up on every bush,

Pour out their hearts in sonorous pitch.

And the trees sway in gentle cadence

Like the tasseled skirt of a swaggering maiden.

The sun peeps out from snow-capped mountains,

Splashing splurges of gold like a cascading fountain.

And the slumbering buds laden in dew,

Spurt out from bondage in exotic hue.

A cool-scented breeze rests softly on my cheek,

Luring me out, far into the sun-drenched field.

But the caressing warmth of the flaming ember,

Lulls me back, deep into indolent slumber.

Now I find myself levitating higher and higher,

Transported above to new vistas brighter.

Suddenly I am anchored on to cosmic domain

With luminous bulbs lit along silvery terrain.

And there the Divine Queen I perceive, in grandeur,

Confabulating with her aides in silvery splendour.

I gaze and gaze in delirious stupor,

This celestial display of magical wonder.

‘Incredible’ I cry in ecstatic state,

My dreams fade; I jolt awake.

The moon is just a satellite, I sigh,

And the ebullient sun, a star.
